6th PSL Soft and Living Matter days

The 6th edition of the PSL Soft and Living Matter days, organized by the Grand program Metasoft Matter, will be held from July 6 to July 8, 2026, at Institut Pierre-Gilles de Gennes (IPGG).

This three-day event will bring together researchers from the PSL University community working on Soft and Living Matter. Its objective is to stimulate scientific exchange, strengthen existing collaborations, and foster new interdisciplinary connections within PSL.

A preliminary scientific program is currently under preparation and will feature invited talks from leading researchers across PSL institutions:

  • Hélène Berthoumieux (ESPCI Paris - PSL, Gulliver) - The effect of the confinement on electrolytes properties
  • Paule Dagenais (Institut Curie, PCC) - How mechanics sculpt mammalian nose patterns: From growth to creases
  • Stephanie Ognier (Chimie ParisTech - PSL / IPGG) - Plasma assisted synthesis of small organic molecules in biphasic gas/liquid microreactors
  • Cristian Ovalle (Mines Paris - PSL, CMAT) - Conference title coming soon
  • Simone Pezzotti (École Normale Supérieure - PSL, CPCV) - Hydrophobic Solvation to Control Electrochemical Reactions
  • Benoit Roman (ESPCI Paris - PSL, PMMH) - Compliant architected materials for shape-morphing
  • Camille Scalliet (ENS - PSL, LPENS) - Unraveling dynamic heterogeneities: Scaling laws in supercooled liquids
  • Vincent Semetey (Chimie ParisTech - PSL) - Challenges and Innovations in Advanced Recycling Technologies
  • Abdou Rachid Thiam (ENS - PSL, LPENS) - From the physics to the cell biology of fat storage

The program will also include an international invited speaker hosted through the Metasoft Matter Grand program invited professorship:

  • Denise Petri (University of São Paulo) - Surfactant effects on rheological and mechanical properties of HPMC hydrogels and cryogels

👉 A dedicated page presents the full list of invited speakers and their profiles.

We warmly encourage participants to submit a poster or an oral contribution (maximum 15 minutes) presenting their latest research on soft materials, polymers, or heterogeneous systems.

To make the most of networking opportunities and informal discussions, we invite you to register in advance.
